The Brighter, The Better

Every time I’m coming back from holidays, the place I just visited influences my styling choices. In this look, I was very clearly inspired by Majorelle Gardens in Marrakech with it’s signature royal blue.

Oversized jumpers are not new and they’ve been in trend for the past 3 seasons already, but this season they were upgraded with a just one rule: the brighter, the better. This is my second look for this Fall with the belted, bright oversized jumper (see my 1st look here: https://lolitamas.com/big-red-sweater/) and I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last.

Despite the resemblance of super oversized jumpers to actual blankets, they can be flattering, energetic statement pieces, if you play your styling cards right. One option is to streamline your cold-weather wardrobe by donning head-to-toe knits. The key is to go for a fitted, ribbed turtleneck and coordinating trumpet flare skirt or bell-bottom trouser. Another super soft, fail-safe look is the maxi-dress-and-outsize-sweater combo: throw on a cashmere pullover over a flowing dress (or statement slip), then polish off the look with mules and dramatic drop earrings. Still another idea involves co-opting the preppy sweater sling — a method that allows you to double up on insulation without sacrificing style.

I love wearing them belted, so the shape of my upper body is not completely lost in the cosiness of my big knits, but since belted bags are also big hit of this season, it would be a shame not to rock these 2 amazing trends together, don’t you think so?

Love, Lolita x
