Of course, it’s probably not the best time to start thinking about your AW16 wardrobe, yet. However, when I got an invitation to visit Arcadia AW16 Press Day, I couldn’t say ‘No’. It’s always interesting to see in advance what we all will start buying and wearing in September.
Arcadia Group is a British multinational retailing company. It owns the high street clothing retailers Burton, Topshop (Topman), Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and many others.
Some of the collections absolutely stole my heart, I was especially surprised with Dorothy Perkins, it seems like they decided to target a different audience, as their AW16 collection is filled with the super trendy and high quality items that I already can’t wait to see in their stores. The whole collection looks very different, there were many Isabel Marant and Valentino-inspired pieces.
As of the general trends that will be ruling AW16 – there are many similarities with the current season. For examples=, bombers are not going anywhere – we’ve seen them in every collection, but they’ve been definitely modified in terms of the shape and texture. Embroidered pieces were also seen everywhere, but now it’s not only denim, which is embroidered, but also accessories, shoes and outerwear (Topshop embroidered leather jacket is one of my favorite pieces from their whole collection).
Faux fur is staying as well, but it’s getting more oversized and the look is more natural, rather than screaming ‘faux’.
