Birchbox April 2015 & Birchbox x Tatler boxes

This month’s post on Birchbox Box would be slightly different and much longer, as I am about to review 2 boxes in one post. Birchbox April 2015 box and first limited edition box in collaboration with Tatler magazine. I was excited when Birchbox team announced about this collaboration by putting leaflets in the previous month’s boxes. I bet I was one of the first lucky girls who made a pre-order and couldn’t wait to get their hands on this little precious thing. Unlike normal subscription box, I already knew what brands and products I will receive, so I didn’t have any back thoughts when I was ordering it. So, this month is my Beauty Month I would say, so many new samples and new beauty crushes, can’t wait to review everything I got!

I will start by reviewing the normal subscription box that I receive every month. Just like the previous months, Birchbox are exceptionally good at designing their boxes, it is always too hard to just throw them away, so I have loads of them and I use them as a storage boxes for my nail polishes & make up. This month wasn’t an exception, this box was the second Royal box and it looks absolutely stunning.

1. LOLA Nail Polish. Full Size. RRP £8.  BUY HERE

This is the third LOLA Nail Polish in my collection and I adore those nail polishes for great coverage, colour palette and reasonable price. It gives a nice deep and dense colour after just 2 coats, darker colours might need an extra layer, but with lighter shades 2 coats work just prefect.

2. Percy and Reed. Volumizing No Oil Oil. Travel Size. RRP £10.50. BUY HERE

I bet every girl with long hair will understand my struggles to give my hair a bit more volume in the roots. I have really thick hair, however, considering their length there are not so many products in the world that can lift my roots up and keep it there for more than an hour. This product does wonders, it doesn’t feel like oil at all (it’s name speaks for itself, it’s NO OIL OIL), however, I don’t recommend you to put more than couple of drops on your hair, it might not feel like oil, but it is one, so if you would be too generous, you generosity might result in your hair looking greasy and this is not what we all want to achieve, right? Just a couple of drops. When you do everything right, you will see how it makes your hair look shiner and softer. I use it on towel-dried hair just before I apply other styling products.

3. Laura Mercier. Eye Pencil in colour 'Midnight Bleu'. Full Size RRP £17.50. BUY HERE

3. Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in colour ‘Midnight Bleu’. Full Size RRP £17.50. BUY HERE

As always, it is nice to see more make-up products in beauty-boxes, as they always come in handy and there is no such a thing as too much make-up (though, I can’t say the same about beauty balms and hand creams, aha). Laura Mercier is a great brand and I love their primer with all my heart. This pencil appeared to be a smoothly textured that provides precise definition and easy, smooth application. Applies evenly without “dragging” or pulling the delicate eye area and produces clean, precise lines. It can be sharpened to an extremely fine point without breaking off. The colour is very deep purple shade that could be use as a part of a party make up and it will add a creative touch to the daytime eye makeup.

4. Bliss Fabulous Foaming Gel Cleanser. Travel Size - 60 ml. RRP £19

4. Bliss Fabulous Foaming Gel Cleanser. Travel Size – 60 ml. RRP £19

This cleanser happened to be the least favourite product from the whole range of the samples I received. The first thing that has to be mentioned, is that this ‘foaming’ wash is not actually foaming and this could be really confusing because of the misleading title. Second thing that I didn’t like was the scent, for me it smelled just like soap and nothing else. Really disappointed and I wouldn’t recommend buying this product to anyone.

5. Pommade Divine Nature's Remedy Balm. Travel Size. RRP £19.80. BUY HERE

5. Pommade Divine Nature’s Remedy Balm. Travel Size. RRP £19.80. BUY HERE

Based on a 200 year old British recipe, the original Pommade Divine formula was first created by the Royal Family’s chemist, Butler’s & Co – and since then, has been used to relieve the scraped knees of princes (and plebeians) with equal efficacy. Made with a cocktail of natural ingredients renowned for their antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, this supercharged balm has been taking care of citizens all over Britain (and the former British Empire) for centuries. Suitable for all skin types – including sensitive – the replenishing balm helps enhance skin’s resilience, diminish likelihood of scarring and can also calm conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

6. Befine Warming Clay Mask. 1 Satchet. RRP £17.00. BUY HERE

6. Befine Warming Clay Mask. 1 Satchet. RRP £21.19. BUY HERE

After trying this mask once, I knew I had found a keeper. Admittedly, it is very thick and hard to get out of the tube, but once rubbed between wet fingers becomes nice and creamy. It does have a momentary warming effect, but I don’t think this actually provides any practical benefits. When you rinse the mask off, your wet skin will have a smooth parrafin-like feel and once dry will be dewy, plump, glowing, and full of moisture.

1. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – Travel Size 50ml with muslin cloth. RRP £9.75. BUY HERE

1. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – Travel Size 50ml with muslin cloth. RRP £15. BUY HERE

Although I’ve received numerous samples of this cleanser in the past, I’m always happy to receive a back up as this cleanser is one that I turn to time and time again when my skin is in need of a pick-me-up. It takes every scrap of makeup off – even waterproof mascara – and is so gentle, but deep cleansing to the skin. Each time I use it, it is like giving myself a facial. The muslin cloth really adds to the overall experience.

2. Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Cream – Travel Size 40ml. Full Size 200ml RRP £35.00

2. Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Cream – Travel Size 40ml. Full Size 200ml RRP £35.00. BUY HERE

The aroma of this Aromatherapy Associates Renew Rose Body Cream is subtle but lasts long time. It’s also a good combination with any other perfume. The touch is very creamy and soft. I love it. The packaging of the full-size cream makes this product perfect for a gift as it looks very luxurious and all of the products from this brand deliver spa-experience to your bathroom.

3. Bamford Geranium Hand and Body Wash – Sample Size 50ml. Full Size RRP £24.00

3. Bamford Geranium Hand and Body Wash – Sample Size 50ml. Full Size RRP £24.00. BUY HERE

Bamford isn’t a brand I’ve heard of before but they sit pretty in the heart of the Cotswolds, a place known for its beauty and inside the box you can expect to see their Geranium, Lavender and Peppermint Body Wash.

This gentle bodywash is plant-based and blended with soothing aloe vera, is rich in antioxidants and promises to refresh and condition the skin. It’s potent scent delivers a refreshing and uplifting burst of freshness and if you love to coordinate your shower gel with the mood you’re in like me, this is the perfect scent to energise your morning or to wind down after a long day.

4. Percy & Reed London Dry Instant Volumising Spray – Full Size 200ml RRP £14.00. BUY HERE

4. Percy & Reed London Dry Instant Volumising Spray – Full Size 200ml RRP £14.00. BUY HERE

Another full-sized product in the box and the second one from this brand this month. This totally non-stick, dry instant volumising spray from Percy & Reed plumps up your hair, in a flash. It’s simple to use and creates hair full of of body, bounce, volume and texture. I am a huge fan of dry shampoos, as I have curly and thin hair the roots getting greasy faster, than the length, so I have to use dry shampoos between washes in order to keep my hair look healthier and to now over dry them with shampoos.

5. Dr Jackson’s Natural Products Face Oil 03 – Full Size 25ml. RRP £30.00. BUY HERE

5. Dr Jackson’s Natural Products Face Oil 03 – Full Size 25ml. RRP £30.00. BUY HERE

Dr Jackson is not a brand I’ve heard of before but this oil alone retails for more than the box itself which is really impressive. The oil itself is not what you would expect, in fact it is what I would probably describe as a ‘dry oil’ in that it does not feel or go onto your skin oily at all. In terms of product scent, if you’re a fan of lighter fragrances and synthetics then you might not like the smell of this. It smells of the good stuff – herbal with the definite hint of Calendula flower. My skin is smoother than ever, it’s hydrated leading to a distinct lack of tightness in my face. It’s not greasy and the clear oil absorbs into my face easily enough. It’s left my skin soft and refreshed and I’ll certainly be continuing to use this and will put a face oil into my daily routine from now on.

6. Ciaté Paint Pot – Full Size 13.5ml. RRP £9.00 BUY HERE

6. Ciaté Paint Pot – Full Size 13.5ml. RRP £9.00. BUY HERE

I absolutely love this shade and it was the second time I received this colour by Ciate. This nail varnish is famous for it’s long wear and rich colour. Again, two coats will be enough to get this deep red shade.
