Karl Lagerfeld x Steven Wilson: Capsule Collection Highlights

Karl Lagerfeld is the fashion icon that I always admired. His way of thinking and cutting-edge approach to style is remarkable. His brand KARL LAGERFELD surely reflects his signature aesthetic through creative, cool and affordable – luxe apparel and accessories.  At the beginning of April, they have presented a capsule collection with a renowned artist and illustrator Steven Wilson, and it’s really bright, saturated and beautiful – exactly what we needed.

Steven is an award-winning illustrator who lives and works in Brighton, UK. He uses a constantly evolving series of techniques and processes to execute his varied and experimental work.

The collection features the design graphic of several iconic KARL LAGERFELD images created by Steven Wilson: Karl himself, Choupette (one of his muses), the KARL LAGERFELD, a camera, and a pair of sunglasses. Each graphic is made with a special printing technique, Wilson says, “using just three layers of colour: Abstract cyan, magenta and yellow. Shapes in these colours are laid on top of one another to create a design that has identifiable form. The beauty of this process is that where the colours overlap, you get secondary colours – red, green and so on.” Each graphic resembles a sophisticated fusion of screen printing and tie dye, with modernistic details that look like dripping paint.

In the collection, you will find monochrome pieces that feature bright and vibrant illustrations created by Steven. Stand – out pieces in the collection include an embroidered satin bomber jacket, a hold-everything shopper bag featuring Karl’s face in multicolour with black patent leather sunglasses, and a black glitter box clutch with colourful drip insets.

Today I will show you some of my favourite prices from KARL LAGERFELD x Steven Wilson capsule collection and also will tell you more about the Print Club London where I was introduced to Steven Wilson and got a chance to test my screen printing skills to print my own Karl Lagerfeld illustration.
