The Perfect Oasis: Les 5 Djellabas Hôtel

As you know from the endless amount of photos that I posted, travelling to Morocco was the most eye-opening and magical experience of my life. We stayed at Les 5 Djellabas hotel, which is located 20 mins drive from Old Town (Medina). The taxi in Marrakech is cheap, so we knew we want to live somewhere outside the busy streets and have a very relaxing holiday with a couple of trips to souks (Marrakech markets).

Les Cinq Djellabas is a boutique hotel of 10 “bungalows” which are all very private, when we checked in our deluxe ‘room’ we had a walk around and we thought that we are the only ones in there. After a while we realised that a lot of tourists spend 80% of their day at tours and in the Old Town and it was amazing to have the hotel facilities to ourselves only. This hotel is definitely better suited to couples looking to escape from reality for a few days than families with kids

If you are looking for a peaceful holiday in Marrakech – Les 5 Djellabas is a perfect hotel for it.

The 10 lodges are all suites or luxury suites, meaning they have a living room and bathroom. It’s a mix of Moroccan and contemporary design with a lot of African accents like the animal skins (zebra!) and fur in the rooms. I loved the design so much, it felt more like we are staying somewhere in South Africa rather than in Marrakech. There is a restaurant, game room, and pool on the huge garden that is over one hectare. The pool is massive and was nice to relax at since most other hotels had dipping pools

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a bathtub in our room (but the staff kindly let me in the luxury suite to take the pictures of their best facilities. However, we had a fantastic rainwater shower and the whole design of a bathroom was just amazing. The mix of wood and marble completely stole my heart.

The only downside that was present in my experience was food at this hotel. Usually, the hotels offer European options or at least modernised options of the local cuisine heroes, at Les 5 Djellabas almost everything I have ordered wasn’t really in my taste. The breakfast was overfilled with bread and gluten and even though I’m not afraid to eat both of them, it wasn’t healthy at all. Also, you should have planned much in advance what you would like to have for lunch and dinner, so there is no such an option as treat yourself with last-minute room service.
