Modern Power Dressing: Total Red

Don’t play it safe: swap your day-to-day layered look for something arresting in red, because ‘classic’ and ‘comfy’ don’t have to mean dull. Total red is the most modern way to go. It took me some time and efforts to feel comfortable in a total red look, as this is a true statement. It also feels like a hero suit, I can honestly feel myself a Wonder Woman every time my outfit is more than 60% red.

My first rule for power dressing is hiding in my collection of power coats – they make a first impression. It’s all too easy to rely on the same black coat, but as I prove in this look, there can be nothing more entrance-making than something in a powerful colour, like this River Island coat

My second rule is to keep the power look to minimal, the burst of different prints doesn’t make the strong look – the way you style one print or colour is actually more interesting.

My third rule, or actually a preference – culottes. They are an answer to your every work-outfit woe. When a skirt feels to fussy, tight trousers too uncomfortable – along comes a pair of culottes to save the day.

My fourth rule is to invest into classic accessories. In my case, this super simple but stylish Esin Akan ‘Mini Paris’ bag & a pair of Adam Selman x Le Specs cat eye sunglasses.  Classic accessories are gifts that keep on giving – matching up with almost every outfit and   continually catching the interest of other in-the-know women.
