Sun Gardens Dubrovnik

Real Khaleesi Holiday

I wouldn’t lie, I had quite low expectations for Dubrovnik before our trip. I knew I wanted to escape into the fairytale world that’s been praised in Game of Thrones, but I also knew, I might get disappointed and that in reality, it will all look very different. Guess what. It doesn’t. Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful, magical and surreal towns I’ve ever been to and our experience was one of the best we’ve ever had. Since it was our traditional trip for my Birthday, I knew I wanted to go to the place where I’ll be able to relax on the beach passively and when I get bored of it, go and discover something new. Sun Gardens Dubrovnik hotel seemed like a perfect option for us, being on the front line by the sea and located not too far from the centre.

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is an experience where beauty is at every turn. It’s located in only 30 mins drive from Dubrovnik, so it is possible to commute there every day if you’d like to wander around the narrow streets of Kings Landing. But if you prefer a relaxed holiday, you will immediately get lost in the beauty of the nature around the hotel that will instantly bring peace to your mindset.

Room

Upon our arrival we’ve been met by the loveliest receptionist, who was so excited for us when she figured out that we are checking in on a day of my Birthday. We’ve got an upgrade to the Deluxe Room with a Sea Side View and couldn’t be happier about it.

Our room was very spacious, clean, light and beautiful. We really felt ourself like at home. Ad additional pleasant bonus was our own terrace with a fantastic view. I was also surprised to see that they provide Ferragamo toiletries, which are amazing quality and I fell in love with the shampoo and conditioner.

Facilities

The hotel is bigger, than we’ve expected and it’s spread out across 22 – hectare territory. There are at least 5 restaurants with the different types of cuisines, as well as a number of restaurant.

Sun Gardens is the perfect destination for sports and fitness enthusiasts, because apart from the gym, they have a volleyball, football, badminton courts and the list of other sports related facilities goes on and on.

There are also 3 pools, one of which is for adults only and their most photographed round ‘Sunset’ pool is just the perfect place to soak up the rays and watch the sun go down over the horizon.

We were a bit worried about how we’ll commute to the Old Town, but Sun Gardens provides a shuttle service to the city and there is also a possibility to take a boat, however if it’s too windy, boat is not an option (our has been cancelled 5 minutes before the departure).

There is also a small supermarket on site selling fresh bread, snacks and drinks, beauty salon and others shops on site, which makes the stay super convenient.

Breakfast

During the summer, there is no better way to start your day than with a breakfast served on the hotel’s rooftop terrace with panoramic views over the turquoise Adriatic Sea and the charming Elaphite islands.

The breakfast at Sun Gardens has a very wide selection of freshly squeezed juices, aromatic coffee, warm rolls and croissants, bacon and eggs, and more.

Beach

Just a few steps from the resort you can find a natural pebble beach surrounded by magically beautiful, untouched nature.  There are at least 3 zones by the beach, one of which is the VIP beach club, where apart from the sunbed, umbrella and towel (which you receive at all the zones), you can also get freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruits and cocktails.

If you fancy a massage or renting a jet ski, it’s all available for the booking.  Rock shoes are recommended if you wish to swim in the sea a lot.

Overview

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is perfect if you are heading to Dubrovnik and want to get a resort and city break feel all at once. It is a very family-friendly hotel with all facilities tailored for the kids and their parents, so if you are a young couple staying there, you might find it a little bit too quiet, however, Dubrovnik Old Town is 20 minutes drive away, so you can always head there for some action.

There is nothing about this property which isn’t run to the very highest of standards. Staff from reception to the breakfast staff to the spa receptionists the pool attendants to the restaurant staff to the beach bar staff are all friendly and very attentive. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

I really hope we get to come back there one day and relive all these magical moments we spent at Dubrovnik Sun Gardens.
