With fashion month around the corner, we prepare for the worst (rain, snow, sleet) while praying for the unexpected (blue skies, balmy afternoons). On a cool day, when the weather isn’t quite warm enough for bare legs or when you have a dress that is too short to be office appropriate, layering it over a pair of pants is a chic alternative. Still, the combination can look messy if not done correctly.
Length is key with this tricky trend, you can go long or short. But when going long make sure there is a revealing slit to make sure you get a pop of the leg underneath. Other wise whats the point?
Or as in my case, the opposite is true with short layering, keep it to mini lengths so people can appreciate your smart choice of pairing. Cropped trousers work best with a shorter dress. Underline your waistline with the belt so your legs will look longer and slimmer, even though the whole look is layered and oversized.
But don’t be afraid to add volume to your legs and a more fitted top half, it is a careful balance. So just play around with different combos until you find one that works for you.
